Company Policy & Regional Differences

We would like to emphasize the importance of understanding, that the exact procedures may vary to some extent depending on the jurisdiction, industry and/or institution that must undertake KYC checks. Following please find a few examples of differences:

UBO thresholds may be slightly higher or lower
Additional/Per se risk factors may differ
Handling of specific legal entity types may vary
General risk calclation may work differently

Therefore always be sure to understand the specific rules & regulations in your jurisdictions, set by the regulator(s) in that jurisdiction as well as your companies' policy.

Ask your subject matter expert (SME)

Especially for new analysts do not hesitate to contact your SME if you are unsure. Especially in the first few weeks the SME will be a great help and support until you have gained confidence and exprience in undertaking KYC checks.

Ongoing learning

Last but not least be sure to stay up to date to the rules and regulations in your jurisdiction. Anti-money laundering regulations must constantly evolve in order to keep up with new money laundering trends and methods. Therefore you as a KYC analyst must also keep up in order to not let any money launderering activities slip through the cracks. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is also a great source for news and updates in the industry.
